Dear Sir

Yesterday only I received Mr Low’s MS.S. the book of prints, & the annals of Scotland. I shall in the course of this winter give the Tour of the orknies a very careful perusal; & select such prints as I think will best promote its sale. I give you many thanks for the prints which are very acceptable. I beg to know who etched & drew them, & whether some are not taken from old drawings being in a far more perfect state than when I saw the place for example Kilchurrn castle & others quite altered e.g. Melvile castle, if that which Lord Levin lives at.

My respectful complimts attend Sir Dd Dalrymple & thanks for his most acceptable present. I had bought a copy but will retain this as a memorial of the honor he does me in thinking of me, if he has not my Welsh Tour, please to present one to him in my name from Mr Elliot.

I am Dear Sir
yr faithful humble Servt

Tho. Pennant
