Dear Sir

Thanks to you for both yr favors. we will trouble ourselves no more about the dirty peer Ld F. only I must ask you who was his unfortunate wife for I mislaid a former Letter of yrs.

The more I see the more I admire Mr Clerks etchings. Pray is he living. where is Lassuade? for that is out of my knowledge.

I hope Mr Cordiners prints have reached you. There are but three wanting to complete the set. & they will be very beautiful. I expect his M.S. daily after which it shall go to press, bad as the times are.

I hope yr terrors are over abt Paul Jones. our luck is very hard to be insulted by such a Pyrate. our sands & shallow seas protect us here.

I am Dear Sir
most faithfully yrs

Tho. Pennant.

Downing Octr. 5th 1779.

Is the new history of Edinburgh in good repute? has it prints?

Do you hear whether Mr Bruce will publish?
