Dear Sir

Last night I returned home & take this first opportunity of thanking you for your favor of April 28th. I received Mr Elliots kind present; & must hope the welsh tours have reached you by this time to hear of it by the next letter. Mr Low may take his time for till affairs settle, the public attention is too much distracted to think of amusement: but then this is the period for individuals to compose & study. Let me also advise Mr Low to put his voyages into as small compass of words as possible: for the english love conciseness. I shall rejoice To receive Mr Callendars work & to hear some good news of Dr Ramsay.

I rest Dr Sir
yr very faithful humble Servt

Th. Pennant

Downing May 26th 1778.

I break open this to tell you that to my great amazement I find Mr Lows journal amongst my Books which came in a box from London. I had sent it to Mr Gough at yr request, who to avoid the trouble of forwarding it to you, I suppose sent it to White & so it has come back. This is the last time I will trust matters of this consequence to Mr Gough. how shall I get it to you. I hope the Nat. hist. part which I sent to Mr Cadel is safe.

Mr George Paton
