Mr Owen

I thank you for yr note & shall be glad to receive the sequel of yr enquir[...]ies. I find so much time lost by sending the sheets thro’ yr hands, that I shall not trouble you except on difficulties.

I shall be obliged to you for calling on mr Sherwin engraver in Bond street for my print of Mr Pitt. I left money to pay my 2d subscription but as the [sic] has left town, I must request Mr Faulder to pay you the ½ Guinea for that purpose. I wish you would wrap it carefully with soft paper round a Roller & leave it at Mr Hughes’s No 8 or 10 John street adelphi1 who will bring it down.

Yr friend

Th. Pennant

Downing July 20th 1789.

Mr William Owen.

Mr William Owen.

Editorial notes

1. Pennant probably refers to his printer, Henry Hughs (or Hughes), although no record associating him with an address at John Street, Adelphi, has been identified, and the spelling of the name ('Hughes') is uncharacteristic of Pennant.
