Downing Decr. 8th 1772.
Sir
various avocations at home after my long absence prevented me from sooner making my acknowledgemen^ts for the great civility I experienced the last summer at your house: it was a continuance of the hospitality The Highlands are so noted for.1 Please to accept my best thanks for the pleasure I enjoyed while at Delvin which I shall be happy to return to any of your friends who should ever visit these parts. Please to present my compliments to Mrs & Miss Mackenzie
& think me with great
regard
Sir Your obliged &
most obedient humble Servt
