Dear Sir

I am sorry for Mr Jackson’s misfortunes. for the future, will get franks. Luckily I had one for you. I pity & despise impotent malice; but wd advise & even entreat my friends never to deign to answer. it only provokes fresh rancour, & does no good. therefore my friend suppress all reply. surely no true Scotsman ought to be abuse me. [sic]

I never received yr acct of Lord F. Let me beg to have the duplicate of it, which I request as it is only for private curiosity.

If Mr Low sends the Skua &c let it be directed to Mrs Blackburn at Mr John Blackburn’s mercht Liverpool or at Mr White’s Bookseller: Fleetstreet London but in the last case let not my name be mentioned.

Pray get from Mr Elliot a note that He has such & such things of mine in his possession to be accounted for as the conditions of others in the trade at Christmas. if Mr Cordiner consent I would offer him the refusal of his Letters.

The poem was only for yr acceptance. Thanks for yr offer of Leith. which I had not.

I am Dr Sir
yr affect. H. Servt

T.Pennant.

I inclose another engraving for Mr Low, so have (with the two birds) expended about 1.4.6 more than the six guineas Mr Constable gave me for him. Pray transmit this engraving

Thanks for yr Letter & the vindication by F.D.1
