Dear Sir
I hope for another seven years we may as last carry on our correspondence by means of my worthy neighbour, whom we re-elected last week. I hope soon to hear from Mr Low who will now have ample time to pursue his studies; & I dare say will do himself credit. a few of the coins &c will be welcome but that at yr full leisure. I shall be in London from Decr 20th to Jan. 20th. ready to receive yr command in the interim inclose as usual.
Somebody called at Mr Whites to say he cd inform me of something relating to Fair isles; & that He wd write to me; but I never yet have heard from him. He was a N. Briton.
I really think Slezers plates not faithful enough to merit a new edition.
All I can do to serve the publisher of the history of Murray shall be done. They are best judge of the expence they can go to about the plates. A map is really necessary. Could they not extract it from Dorrets great map & correct it from their own acquaintance with the County. I have corrected my error about the Scottish Kings at Kinloss; so hope they will take no notice of it.
I have not seen the acct of roman antiquities at Banchorie, so be you wd cut out the paragraph. [sic] also the 2 letters from Athol. the rest I can wait for.
Weather very fine for the last 3 weeks. I am sorry to hear Sir L. Dundas meets with any disturbance. S. Britain in general is very quiet.
I inclose an order for 4 appendices. If Mr Balfour has any I wish one apiece may be sent to the Revd Mr Macintyre of Glenorchie. to the Revd Mr Sutherland Dornoch. Mr Professor W. Oglevie old aberdeen, & Doctor Saunders Banff. Mr Balfour may replace them by virtue of my order.
Is the rest of Perth Gabions published.
I amDowning Octr 23d. 1774.
The extracts from the advocates library contain so little as not to merit the ^trouble tro of transcribing. but my obligations to ^you y are the same.
