Dear Sir

your letters are always so acceptable as never to need apology. I wish much that Mr Low had Saxo Grammaticus for with that is printed Torfæus’s hist. of the orcades: I will lend him mine if not be got. [sic] also olaus magnus which treats much of northern nations. I shall soon write to him again to urge his visit next summer to the Shetlands; in terms I hope he will not decline. Those isles shd go with the other to complete our plan.

If you can pick up anything historical abt Bute its Castles of Rosay & Kaymes or of the isle of arran it will be most welcome.

I scarce know that to say about yr M.S. The steed is stolen, the foundation of depopulation is Laid in the isles & Highlands; & I fear it will be too late to discuss on what might have been done. But still would it come readily it might merit perusal.

Be so good as to transmit the inclosed & return me the answer from the Doctor.

I am, Dear Sir,
Yr very faithfull H. Servt

Tho. Pennant.
