Dear Sir

I am extremely glad that my trifling present was acceptable: but I still must hold myself in yr debt. I rejoice that Mr Low has got my Books, being sure he will make good use of them. I do my best to stimulate him to visit Shetland which will complete the history of our isles. When you write to him beg he would collect the eggs of the arctic gull & observe how many they lay.

All yr notes will be acceptable; especially any you can collect respecting Caerlavoroc castle & its sieges.

I can very well content myself with the engraving of the Cruikston Dollar in Anderson.1

I am much obliged to Mr Macgovan for his parcel which I shall acknowledge on its arrival. Be so good as to put the Letter for Montrose into the post & send the other to Dr Ramsay.

I am Dear Sir with much regard

yrs

Tho. Pennant

I think Mr Low should know what papers relate to orkney in the advocates library.
