Brighelmstone June 10th 1793
Dear Sir1
The very moment that Sir R. Mostyn communicated to me the much lamented end of my
constant
friend & fellow-traveller, I wrote to the Bishop.
nNotwithstanding his Lordship could not comply with our prayer, I rejoice to hear that he has taken the
earliest notice of you; & I dare say that your conduct will render you worthy of the attention of his favor in future.
Be assured that Mrs Pennant & I shall transfer the
friendship we bore for yr father to
yr mother by rendering any little services we are capable of,
toin the manner which may be thought most u[...]seful. we beg our kindest remembrances to her &
the family. I am, with much sincerity, yr friend
You will find an odd volume of the welsh tour2 done in blue paper. it is mine. so be so good as to lay it by for me. I recd yr letter in due time.

^Dean Swifft remarks that A Postscript is generally supposed to be the most interesting part to the writer – this leter [sic] is illustrative of the remark – Mr. Pennant did nothing but harrass [sic] and insullt [sic] my mother. and the only favour ask’d by Llewelyn was the loan of 10£ to go & take a master of Arts degree which was refused by the “constant friend and fellow traveller” to the son of his lamented friend –
