Dear Sir. -

I return your Book, with very many, and very sincere thanks. Whatever you talk, or write about, always affords me amusement, and instruction in the superlative degree.

I know I have some prints which I can spare, belonging to your history, tho’ I know not, just now, where to lay my hand upon them; I shall find them when I least expect it.

I have put into your book a little print of Southwick House, and two or three relative to the Isle of Wight, and when I find any more, I will remember to put them by. I wish you and yours every thing you expect from your Brighthelmstone Expedition.

When I have the good fortune to be again rectus in Curiâ,2 respecting your good opinion, perhaps you will have the goodness to let your amanuensis transcribe that part of your work, which treats of our little Island, upon paper of the size and goodness of your own, and I will most gladly pay him, any thing he pleases for the same.

I am Dear Sir. Always yours

Editorial notes

1. The month and year are given in pencil. A date prior to Sarah Pennant's death at Brighton on 16 April 1794 is likely.
2. 'right in court'.
