I presented your Compliments to Mr. Comissr. Menzies who returned to Town t'other day he begs you would excuse him for a few weeks as he is desirous to look over the Articles ere he transmit them to you. ––––– Just now have quitted Dr. Ramsay he writes you next Post or so being much hurried at present. — Your Reduction of the Size of the Whale shall be welcome & intend soon after to set about getting them engraved, wish I may find the Volume of the Philosophical Transactions here as they are not so regularly sent down to our publick Libraries here as could be wisht A year or two being purchased together.

Mr. Gough is not presently in London returns there about Christmas, he writes me frequently in my next to him I shall take notice of your Remark.

I return you thanks for your Account of the Saxon Weapon, which I judged from it's make to be such. The Note will be in this Week's Magazine & shall take care to pay it as directed with the Chaise Hyre.

No Advice as yet of the Sugar Cane Rat when it reaches me to whose Care at London or any where else shall it be addrest that it may reache [sic] you.

I called this afternoon at the New Castle Waggoner's Quarters, lookt at their Books observed on 25 Septemr 1772 two Boxes marked Mr. Pennant weighing Seven Stone three Pounds went off from this by Howey's Waggon for Newcastle, the Waggoner told me these were delivered into the Manchester Warehouse Newcastle Wm. Anderson Packhorse & Fleece sign, so Howey told me that Anderson was answerable for them, & in order to trace out the Recovery of Mr. Falconer's Box, (as I presume one of the above two Boxes must be the one wanted? I have this night written to Willm. Anderson what you mention in your Letter of 29 past to me: desiring that he will push the Search from his House if to Manchester if these Boxes were sent off by him : Please let me know if this Box casts up, but if not, advise me what steps are to be taken to find it out.

I waited of [sic] Mr. Sharp who returns his Compliments (as does Mr. Campbell) is very happy that the drawing reached you & pleases so well.

I have inquired at the Advocates Library for 2d. Volume of the Scotia Illustrata but there is no such Article in their Collection probably it has been there but is now gone, some person having borrowed & lost it. have hereto annexed a List of Sir Robert Sibbald's Works printed & M.SS. the annexed List is what they should have but what are crost (x) they have lost. I learn from Dr. Ramsay that none of his M.SS. are in the Medical Collection belonging to the Physicians here, I will make some further Inquiry about them & will inform if succesfull.

Can learn no more about the French Painter Mauvise it seems the Honble. Mr. Walpole assigned the Labours of Hercules to this Artist.

It will make me happy to be of any Service Service to you here
