Dear Sir
Yr Letter of the 7th inst [instant] is come to hand. thanks for the coins. & the engraving. I rejoice that the Lad has recovered his sight.
I am much obliged to you for the advice about the map; & will not fail profiting by it. I shall defer the engraving it till I am favored with further hint on the subject & shall only cause an outline to be made for the intent you so friendly mention.
I have bought Brice’s map: therefore do not trouble yrself abt it.
I am now busied in preparing a first volume of engraving for my supernumerary drawings of yr principal places; heads of most illustrious people of the Scotch nation. It will be arranged according to my Tour & voyage & be attended with short descriptions. it may be styled my picturesque journal. any good drawings of views of Castles &c will be most acceptable. each vol. will contain 50 views.1
I have ordered the books from Mr White & sent the Letter to Mr Gough. Pray accept the Books. Marmaduke Tunstall esqr of Mansfield street London a great collector of birds is very desirous of two Soland geese, old ones & dead. to be sent without any preparation, except being kept clean by being packed in a basket with straw. They may be sent from Dunbar by sea or by yr coach. If you can execute this commission, He will cheerfully pay any charges. be so good if you succeed to advise him of it by post & of the charges.
